Let’s clean up Grove Hill!

The Grove Hill Park Committee, in cooperation with the Western Reserve Land Conservancy, the Chagrin Falls Parks Commission, and the Village of Chagrin Falls administration, is hosting a clean-up event of the new Grove Hill Park site. This event will take place on Saturday, May 6th, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the park, located at the northwest corner of North Main Street and West Cottage Street. The clean-up activities involve removal of fallen limbs and loose brush, and other general clean-up of the site.

Participants are encouraged to bring gloves and wear clothing and footwear appropriate for outdoor work activities. Refreshments will be provided. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be rescheduled. We look forward to seeing you there!

Together, we saved Grove Hill

Thanks to your efforts, the Western Reserve Land Conservancy was able to purchase the Bancroft House and surrounding property on Grove Hill! It couldn’t have happened without your support for our campaign. From the hundreds of yard signs, to the thousands of signatures on petitions from current and former residents, to the overwhelming attendance at Village meetings, together we successfully prevented the demolition of the Bancroft House and the proposed townhome development on the property. The wonderful results are shown below!

The house

The WRLC found a suitable buyer for the Bancroft House and the sale was completed in July 2020. Plans for the restoration and additions are being reviewed by the village Architectural Board of Review and Planning and Zoning Commission.

The park

The southern potion of the property was donated to Village of Chagrin Falls in September 2020. A commission to oversee the creation of the park has been formed, consisting of two village residents (Nancy Rogoff and Chantel Michalek) and two WRLC staff (Rich Cochran and Alex Czayka).
